Factsheet | Mesolift Treatment

Why does our skin begin to look older?

Our body produces a range of chemicals which when we are young, make our skin appear bright, supple and well hydrated. As we got older, the levels of these minerals, vitamins and amino acids reduces. The production of Hyaluronic acid which is the body’s natural moisture retainer is also reduced, which can make the skin look drier, thinner and lacking in volume.

What is Mesolift treatment?

The name comes from the word meaning the top layer of the skin – the Mesoderm. The treatment involves the injecting of very small amounts of a compound into the surface of the skin which contains a ‘cocktail’ of nutrients. These nutrients replace some of the chemicals that the skin loses as it gets older.

What can Mesolift be used for?

Mesolift is most often carried out on the face. However it can be used in other parts of the body where skin rejuvenation is desirable such as neck and the back of the hands. The treatment can also be used following a skin peel to help hydrate the skin and improve the healing process.

Who is Mesolift treatment suitable for?

An initial medical screening questionnaire will be completed however, the treatment is suitable for all skin types and has very few instances of side effects and both men and women of any age can benefit from the treatment. You should NOT have treatment if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

What happens during the treatment?

A very fine needle is used to apply small amounts of Mesolift solution under the top surface of the skin. This will involve a
number of injections and will depend on the size of the area being treated.

How long does treatment take?

In most cases, the treatment will take between
15 and 30 minutes for a single area. Patients can typically return to their normal daily activities following treatment. A course of treatment will typically be 3-6 sessions carried out every few weeks.

Is it painful?

Most people only experience mild discomfort and this can be minimised by the application of a Topical Anaesthetic Cream. There is sometimes a slight swelling and redness straight after treatment, which settles within a few hours.

When will I notice a difference?

The nutrients are gradually released into the skin, so the effect will build over time, but you should notice a difference in the tone and feel of your skin in about 2-3 weeks.

How long will the effects last?

2-3 months depending on each person's response. Repeat treatments will help to maintain the effects.

What happens Pre and Post-Treatment?

You will need to complete a medical questionnaire to ensure there are no
reasons why you cannot receive treatment. There are no specific aftercare requirements for this treatment. You will normally be able to return to your usual daily activities after treatment.

Are there any adverse effects?

In a small number of cases there may be some localised bruising, slight swelling or redness at the site of the injections. This usually disappears within a few hours.
